Ujjain: Collector and district electoral officer Manish Singh took a standing committee meeting at Brihaspati Bhavan on Thursday. SP Sachin Atulkar, additional collector Deepak Arya, ASP Pramod Sonkar, assistant district electoral officer RP Verma and political party representatives Vivek Gupta, Kapil Katariya, Anil Sharma, Shil Lashkari were present during meeting.
During meeting it was informed that new additions in the electoral list will be done till August 31, 2018 and after that no amendment will be made in the list. Singh asked political parties to deploy their booth level agents and make arrangements for proper monitoring of electoral process. He also informed that State Election Commission is giving special attention to ensure full participation of disabled persons.
Apart from that, booth level officers have been asked to incorporate eminent citizens of the area in the electoral list on a priority basis. In order to register more than 80 per cent voters turnout, special awareness campaigns will also be organised during elections.
Singh informed the members that 78,000 names have been deleted from the list and 29,000 new voters have been added till date and new electoral lists have been distributed to all the political parties. He also appreciated the steep rise in gender ratio and fast addition of newly married women in the list. 353 polling booths have been designated as critical and five were put in vulnerable category in the district, so special attention would be made at these booths during elections, he added.
Addressing the meeting Atulkar informed that special security arrangements will be made for assembly elections. Cameras will be used for surveillance, all pending criminal cases will be cleared on priority basis. District administration had informed the representatives of political parties that installation of hooters on vehicles being used for canvassing will be prohibited during election campaign.
