T-Mobile says hackers accessed personal information on Aug. 20

T-Mobile US Inc. TMUS, +0.31% said Friday that on Aug. 20, the company was hit by hackers who were able to gain access to personal information of some of its customers. The company said sensitive information was not accessed in the attack, but names, zip does, phone numbers, email addresses and account number and type may have been exposed. Media reports said two million accounts were affected. The company said it reported the issue to the authorities and said customers can dial 611 to make inquiries about whether they were affected. Shares were up 0.7% Friday, and have gained 3.4% in 2018, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.62% has gained 7.5%.
