Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of the Adani Group, has committed
Rs 50 crore to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund for the rehabilitation of the flood-affected in the state. The financial assistance will be dispatched in phases to help the state in its herculean task of reconstruction and rehabilitation. The group’s employees have also pledged a day’s salary to express solidarity with the state’s flood-victims.
Rajesh Jha, CEO of Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt. Ltd, handed over the first instalment of Rs 25 crore to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday.
The foundation has also started rehabilitation works in collaboration with the Adani Vizhinjam Port. The on-ground team has been participating in flood relief activities in several regions of the state. The team, consisting of staff and volunteers, has travelled to remote villages like Kokkathode, Mundanplavu, Nellikkampara and Kottampara Kurisadi Junction in Aruvapulam Panchayath; Thekkemala, Vanchipramala, Catholic church and St George Orthodox church in Mallappuzhasseri Panchayath, Mangaram and Maroor villages in Konni with supply of relief materials.
The foundation has also pressed into service its mobile healthcare van in view of the possible health concerns that may develop in the region once water recedes. To help prevent outbreak of epidemics, the van with a doctor, pharmacist and social worker will be stationed at relief camps in Kozhencherry and Pathanamthitta, catering to the needs of about 200 people every day, said a press note issued by the foundation.
