Chouhan calls for alert against floods

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan conducted a high-level review of the situation created by extreme rainfall. He said that areas prone to extreme rainfall and floods should be continuously monitored. Residents should be advised to remain alert and be careful in advance.

Preparations for extreme rainfall, relief and rehabilitation should be constantly monitored. Rehabilitation sites near flood-prone areas should be marked. All preparations for relief in case of any calamity should be made in advance in the rehabilitation sites.

Chouhan reviewed the relief and rehabilitation arrangements. It was informed that a state-level control room has been constituted in the Disaster Management Centre, Bhopal. Any kind of assistance can be obtained on a phone call on the control room toll-free number 1079. An alert has been issued in Rajgarh, Aagar and Ratlam following possibility of extreme rainfall. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed in Dhar and Badwani.

The Chief Minister reviewed rainfall situation in the state. It was told that Bhind and Neemuch districts witness 20 percent more rainfall between June one and August 20, 2018. However during this period, 36 districts including Singrauli, Umaria, Datia, Badwani, Burhanpur, Morena, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Khandwa, Shivpuri, Ratlam, Khargone, Katni, Jhabua, Sehore, Jabalpur, Aagar-Malwa, Raisen, Damoh, Indore, Mandla, Shajapur, Ujjain, Hoshangabad, Guna, Shahdol, Gwalior, Sheopur, Narsinghpur, Vidisha, Rewa, Chhindwada, Bhopal, Panna and Seoni recorded normal rainfall. Less than normal rains were recorded in 13 districts including Dindori, Satna, Rajgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Alirajpur, Dhar, Dewas, Harda, Balaghat and Betul.

Chief Secretary BP Singh, Director General of Police Rishi Kumar Shukla, Director General, Civil Defence and Disaster Management Mahan Bharat Sagar, Principal Secretary, Home Malay Shrivastava, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Ashok Vernawal, Principal Commissioner Revenue Shri Manish Rastogi and Additional Director General of Police Rajiv Tandon attended the meeting.
