HPCL allays fears over fuel supply

more-in

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has said that the public need not panic over the supply of fuel.

Fuel is available in HPCL retail outlets and there is no need for worry over the supplies, R Biju, Chief Manager, Kozhikode Retail Region, HPCL, said.

During the floods the road and rail connectivity to Kochi had been disrupted from August 15. As a result, the fuel supplies were badly affected in northern districts. As both rail and road connectivity were disconnected, petrol was in limited supply, though diesel was being supplied from HPCL depots at Elathur.

In Kannur, Kasaragod and Mahe, the supply was made from HPCL terminal at Mangaluru. As efforts were on to arrange to source rescue supply from nearby locations, outside Kerala, fuel was adequately supplied from HPCL Coimbatore depot from August 18 to the entire district of Palakkad and parts of Malappuram.
