CM favours awareness drive on road safety

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that public awareness drive should be launched for road safety rules. He said that the intensive drive should be launched taking the support of the society from September 4. Chouhan was presiding over the meeting of State Road Safety Council at the State Mantralaya on Monday.

Chouhan said that initiative should be made to issue advice before enforcement of the fine for execution of the rules. People should be motivated for discussion on problems related with road safety. Efforts for motivation and inspirations are required most.

Cabinet members should appeal the people for road safety during launching of public awareness drive in Bhopal.

In-charge ministers should create public awareness during weeks. He told to get the support from religious heads and social workers so that positive approach can be developed for road safety in the society.

 The Chief Minister underlined a need to take action against those who drive in inebriated condition. He said that information in this regard should be publicised in advance regarding the drive. Availability of breath analyzers and speed guns should be ensured in sufficient quantity so that authentic action can be taken against those who drive at high speed and in inebriated condition.

Home minister Bhupendra Singh said that 10,000 driving licences have been suspended for driving in inebriated condition. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, School Education Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Urban Development and Housing Minister Maya Singh, Public Works Department Minister Rampal Singh, Chief Secretary BP Singh, Director General of Police Rishi Kumar Shukla and members of state road safety council were present in the meeting.
