Coimbatore: Additional director general of police P Thamaraikannan on Thursday interviewed more than 100 police inspectors and sub-inspectors to select officers, who will undergo one-week training in stress management at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences in Bengaluru.
The initiative of the state government, named ‘Police Wellbeing’ will begin from September 20. The objective of the programme is to make the police force stress-free. “The city and rural police would send two inspectors and six sub-inspectors each to the institute for training. After the training, the trained police officers will take classes for police personnel, who are working in law&order, crime and other wings on every Friday and Saturday on stress management. The training programme will be conducted at least once a year. The trained police officers will work for the welfare of the police personnel for the first three days and will take one day weekly off,” a senior officer told TOI.
The list of the selected inspectors and sub-inspectors will be released soon.TNN
