Around 4,500 applicants have signed up to conduct the Delhi government’s first socio-economic survey of households that was likely to begin in October, officials of the Planning Department said this week.
The survey, which was ordered by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after the starvation deaths of three sisters in Mandawali in July, would include collection of data about income, employment, health, education and access to social welfare schemes.
Data collectors
A senior Planning Department official involved with the plan said, a total of 6,000 to 7,000 data collectors would be needed for the survey and that as on Sunday, 4,500 had applied. Of these, the official said, 25% of the applicants were women.
The basic criteria to apply were a graduate degree and a smartphone, the official said.
For the project, the Department would pay the data collectors per entry, the official added. The survey would be conducted using technology and not paper, the official said, adding that a consultant had been hired for the project.
