Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Long haul” (August 21). The local bodies in Kerala, central authorities and disaster management teams have been able to harness their capabilities of disaster management and reduce the severity of the tragic situation in Kerala.

Kerala got international help and even business tycoons to actors and citizens are coming forward to donate their share to help the State recover soon from the ravages of the disaster.

While distressed situations like these bring the world together, the Kerala floods also shows the vulnerability of the human race in front of the nature.
