With dengue spreading its tentacles in capital city, several Non Government Organisations (NGOs) on Wednesday came forward and lent a helping hand for its prevention and carrying out awareness campaign against the disease.

The campaign is being carried out by Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Raipur Smart City Limited (RSCL).

In a series of ongoing awareness drives, City Mayor Pramod Dubey, Commissioner, RMC, Rajat Bansal and MIC member Satnam Singh Panag on Wednesday visited dengue prone interiors of Tikrapara Ward and made the residents aware of the precautions and measures to be taken to prevent the disease.

Official sources informed that from the next week onwards, the awareness drive would be intensified and a district-wide campaign will be launched with the help of NGOs. Under the programme, many mega road and street shows would be held at several earmarked locations.

While participating in the campaign at Tikrapara, City Mayor Pramod Dubey applauded the efforts of NGOs and said that the zeal of the organisations displayed in the campaigns was inspiring.

The RMC Commissioner Rajat Bansal also said that the efforts made would prove to be beneficial in creating awareness for dengue prevention.

A cleanliness drive was also launched on Wednesday and the sanitisation staff of RMC reached most of the dengue prone locations of Tikrapara and explained all the residents that how sprinkling anti larva chemicals, cleaning sewage and gutter lines, and emptying the coolers can play a vital role in prevention of the fatal disease.
