Black-ish creator Kenya Barris may have just signed a blockbuster $100 million deal with Netflix but he's not done with ABC just yet. He's reteaming with Black-ish writer Yamara Taylor for a reboot of the iconic sitcom Bewitched, which will be a very different take on the original.

While the OG series followed a traditional white nuclear family with a magical secret -- this was the '60s, after all -- the reboot will take a modern approach and center on an interracial family. The new show reimagines Samantha, who will still be a witch, as a single black mom. After marrying a mortal slacker named Darren, she quickly realizes that "even when a Black girl is literally magic, she's still not as powerful as a decently tall white man with a full head of hair in America" according to Deadline. So, this won't be your grandmother's Bewitched.

No word yet on who will take on the iconic roles played by Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York (and later Dick Sargent) but we do know that Barris and Taylor will write the series in addition to executive-producing.

This marks ABC's second attempt at launching a Bewitched series. The network attempted a sequel to the classic series in 2014 but that project fell through. Bewitched was also adapted into a 2005 romantic comedy film starring Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman.
