LUDHIANA: The food safety team on Thursday conducted a raid at a sweets manufacturing unit in Dhillon Colony in Shimlapuri where sweets were being manufactured under unhygienic conditions. No fly catchers, no proper ceiling and ventilation arrangements were found.

The unit was running without food and safety license at the terrace of a residential building.

The officials collected two samples of gulab jamun and rasgulla. They have also served improvement notice to the owner. They have destroyed about 60kg of gulab jamun and rasgulla.

Meanwhile, the officials claimed that only in the month of August till date the team has collected 102 samples out of which 98 samples were of milk and milk products.
