Fifth person charged over alleged murder of Eden Waugh
A fifth person has been charged over the 2016 shooting death of Canberra man Eden Waugh.
Police said a 23-year-old Kambah man was due to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, charged with murder and aggravated robbery.
Mr Waugh, 37, died from a single gunshot wound to his chest at his home on Windeyer Street, Watson, on November 3, 2016.
Police said the 23-year-old would also be charged with aggravated burglary and several assaults that happened at the same location on September 22, 2016.
Police allege the shooting was revenge after Mr Waugh went to police over an alleged home invasion triggered by a drug deal gone wrong.
Officers allegedly found a gun and a crowbar believed to be linked to the alleged murder when they searched the Queanbeyan River last August.
Two men and one woman, who cannot be named because of a suppression order, have already been committed to stand trial for Mr Waugh's alleged murder after pleading not guilty.
One is accused of committing the murder as well as an aggravated burglary, and the other two are charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder.
Another man has been charged with being knowingly concerned with the murder and knowingly concerned with the aggravated burglary. He has also pleaded not guilty.
Detective Acting Superintendent Matthew Reynolds said the charging of the fifth person was another step forward in the investigation.
“We are still urging anyone with information relating to the murder of Eden Waugh to come forward and speak to police,” Detective Acting Superintendent Reynolds said.
