Quite a few of their supporters have taken their opposition online airing their views on the stars’ political views and proposed policies. The devastating Kerala floods has now illustrated the divide between both sets of fans on social media. Several celebrities from Tamil Nadu had contributed wholeheartedly to the Kerala flood relief fund. 

While Rajinikanth donated Rs 15 lakh, Kamal Haasan gave Rs 25 lakh for the cause. In addition to this, members of both their organisations – the Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) – have taken it upon themselves to collect relief materials as well as volunteer for rescue activities in some of the badly-affected areas. While this is something that must be commended by both sets of fans (and most of them have not let their fandom or political allegiances comes first), there are some who have turned even the social activities ugly on Twitter, by arguing over which actor has contributed more money and which set of fans are volunteering more.

 

Adding to this are fans of actor Vijay, who are now posting messages saying that ‘Ilayathalapathy’ is the most concerned of all, as he has trumped other actors by donating Rs 70 lakh through his welfare associations in several cities across the State.  However, this development has been strongly condemned by some members of the RMM as well as MNM. They have been asking the Twitterati to not let their personal agenda ruin the good work.
