Our latest Mystery Picture was of the 1959 Henry Lord Junior High School baseball team. After getting some partial IDs from Tom Pietraszek, More Larrivee and Manny Papoula (who played for Morton), we sought out Henry Lord coach Ray Medeiros (back row, far left), one of the world's great record keepers. He probably could have given us all the names on his own, but for simplicity sake, he emailed a copy of the Herald News clipping from 1959.

Click on the picture for the IDs.

When I requested more info, Mr. Medeiros (as many of us knew him) responded in true Ray Medeiros fashion, with complete batting and pitching stats as well as the results from all six games. Henry Lord went 6-0 to win the city Ninth Grade Baseball League championship, defeating Morton 4-1, Durfee 5-3, Diman 8-3, Durfee 4-0, Diman 12-4, and Morton 7-6.

The leading hitters (for guys playing in all six games) were Bob Lizotte (.571, 8 for 14) and Gus Rocha (.429, 3 for 7). The pitching aces were Paul Trznadel (3-0, 0.00 ERA) and John Kardosz (3-0, 0.00 ERA).
