HYDERABAD: Telangana Private Junior Colleges’ Management Association (TPJMA) on Wednesday gave a call for state-wide bandh of junior colleges on August 27. This is in protest against the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) differentiating between government and private Intermediate colleges, and for not regulating fees.

The association demanded the state immediately increase the Intermediate course fees that have not been hiked in the past four years. It urged the state to immediately release the pending scholarship and fee reimbursement amounts.

“According to GO MS No.102, Intermediate fee has to be enhanced to 10% a year, but that has not been followed in the past four years. This has caused severe financial crisis to private Intermediate college managements. Starting from the time of the Telangana agitation, the government has been promising to enhance the fee, but nothing has been done. To fight for our rights, we have given a bandh call. This is the first time private junior college managements are doing so,” said TPJMA president Narender Reddy.
