Chennai:
Discover the tangible heritage of Mylapore
Mylapore just doesn’t have agraharams alone, but also heritage houses with neo-classical architecture and Corinthian columns, houses with an amalgamation of classical, Indian, and Muslim style characteristics and inferences, houses built with wrought iron balustrades and constructed in the art deco style with distinct geometry. Through this walk, to be held on August 25, you can understand and explore the eclectic architecture of the ancient settlement and establish a deep connection with the past.

Explore the Stone Age Madras
An exciting workshop on the Stone Age in and around the city will be held. Here’s a chance to learn the story of human evolution, make and use stone tools, dig a prehistoric site, learn about fossils, and paint just like a prehistoric artist. The workshop to be held on August 26 is conducted by experts in Indian prehistory. Pre-registration is required and the last date for signing up is August. 24. The workshop is open to children between 7 and 15 years only.

Madras through lines and strokes
DakshinaChitra is organising a slew of activities as part of Madras Week celebrations. Chennai N Vannangal is an exhibition of artworks by city-based artists A Rajmohan, N Jagadeesan, V Ravichandran, N.Bhagavathi Sundaram and M.Ashok. The exhibition will display temple architecture, landscapes and realistic works. Also, artist Pavithra Srinivasan will exhibit a series of intricate, nuanced portraits titled Madras Miniatures. Both the exhibitions are until August 30.

Anglo Indian crafts and cuisine fair
This fair, hosted by The Anglo Indian Ladies’ Forum, celebrates the Anglo Indian spirit of Chennai. It will showcase the crafts designed by Anglo Indian families of Madras in the past, and the mouth-watering food the families cooked at homes in Royapuram, Vepery and Perambur.
The fair that will be held at St George’s School Campus, Poonamallee High Road, will also have sales of craftworks and products of current Anglo Indian entrepreneurs and food stalls.

Pictorial exhibition on the Military history
This exhibition will feature images and write-ups on the history of the Indian Armed forces, besides video shows and power-point presentations on the topic. The event, conducted by Colours of Glory Foundation, will be held at Stella Maris College Auditorium on August 28 and 29, from 9 am onwards.
