Former Union Minister Chinta Mohan on Wednesday said that the prime rival of the Congress party in the State is YSR Congress Party, and the cadres should get ready to expose the false promises of Mr, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, whose sole agenda is to become the Chief minister and to escape from the clutches of law having been caught in the mire of financial irregularities.
Addressing the party activists at the district-level training programme at the Town Hall in Madanapalle, Mr. Mohan said that some of the Congress functionaries, including the senior leaders and those at the field-level, were still reluctant to criticise Jagan Mohan Reddy and his power-hungry politics.
“Without politically targeting Mr. Jagan , future of the Congress party would be bleak in the State. Though it was the Congress party which struggled for centuries for the uplift of the Dalits, unfortunately, Mr. Jagan had highjacked the legacy and took away the Congress party’s traditional vote bank with him. This should be reversed, and that all the Dalit intellectuals should work out a strategy to wean away the oppressed classes from the YSRCP,” the former Minister said.
Mr. Mohan said that Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had not been really serious in grounding the developmental schemes in the State, and the pace of progress was dead slow. He termed the BJP’s chances of retaining the power at the Centre in 2019 elections as a myth, and “next to impossible.”
Senior leader S. Sailajanath said that the cadres should undertake a mission mode campaign to explain to the people the circumstances which led to the bifurcation of the State, and the dual standards adopted by all the political parties, and finally blaming the Congress party.
State leader N. Tulasi Reddy, former Madanapalle MLA Shajahan Basha, and District Congress Committee president Venugopal Reddy were also present.
