A tree came crashing on the busy Babu Rajendra Prasad Road in One-Town leading to a traffic jam for more than an hour in the area. At around 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday, part of a huge peepal tree (Raavi) located in the roadside compound of police housing quarters fell apart on to the road completely blocking the way for traffic and pedestrians.

To control the traffic, police initially blocked the road at K.R. Market junction and later stopped vehicles near Tummalapalli Kalakshetram. Though vehicles were diverted to alternative routes, bumper to bumper traffic was witnessed on the roads leading to chaos in the area. The tree snapped power cables and an electricity pole before crushing a few push carts on the road. No casualties were reported and there was no traffic on the road and power supply in the area at the time of the incident. Police led by Additional DCP (Traffic) T.V. Nagaraju swung into action and roped in chainsaws from a nearby chainsaw dealer store to clear the tree.
