had approved a new policy for promotion of railway sportspersons, whereby, in addition to the sportspersons who won a position or medal in the Olympics, all those sportspersons and coaches who have been awarded will be promoted as officers.

"In order to give due recognition to the effort put in by the sportspersons, who have made two appearances in Olympics, won a medal in Asian Games/Common Wealth Games, it has now been decided to award them with a promotion to the rank," the ministry had said in a statement.
