Indore: The railway administration has banned the operation of battery operated car from all three platforms of the city railway station on Tuesday. The car fell down from railway platform couple of times, which prompted authorities to take this decision.
Ratlam division of Western Railway issued the orders in this regard with immediate effect till next orders. The move has made porters happy who were opposing the move right from beginning. A year ago, three such cars were introduced at railway platform number 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Their parking place was fixed at platform number 1 at PRO office and at platform number 4 outside VIP waiting room. Similarly, their speed was fixed at 10 km per hour. The riders were flouting both the clauses. Following the first incidence, it was decided to fix speed governors on the cars but that could not happen.
In the temptation of drawing the passengers, the drivers of cars always use to drive fast. Jagmohan Verma, ex-member of Zonal Rail Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), was repeatedly demanding ban on battery cars. On Sunday morning, a speeding car fell on track at platform number 3 on Sunday morning minutes before Jabalpur-Indore Express was to arrive. Passengers pulled it back on the platform in nick of time.
