Goodbye Taiwan, hello China: Apple’s new mantra for iPhone components

Apple until now relied on Taiwanese tech manufacturers for some of its products. But it looks like the Cupertino-based firm is all set to bid adieu to them and instead move more towards Chinese component makers. Apple is reportedly taking this step in order to meet the competition that is being given by Chinese tech firms, states a report from Digitimes.
This is said to have an impact on the Taiwanese manufacturers as most of them relied on Apple to support their revenue and stay in competition with Chinese manufacturers. The report adds that one of the manufacturers named Simplo Technology has moved from manufacturing MacBook and iPhone battery modules to the China-based Desay Battery Technology and Sunwoda Electronic since past few years. Now, Simplo Technology is being claimed as the world’s second-largest supplier of electric bike battery modules.
Also mentioned is that Apple MacBook chassis maker Catcher Technology is now looking for new clients after the order landed to the Chinese manufacturer named Everwin Precision Technology.
Apple’s move towards Chinese component makers in a bid to compete with Chinese tech brands may also lead to the firm lowering the cost of its products by a certain margin. Since the iPhone battery manufacturer has also been changed, it might be possible that the handset’s overall price could increase at a lesser margin or stay the same. Apple earlier this year already introduced a more affordable iPad and the reports about a cheaper MacBook Air are already making rounds on the web.
The rumoured MacBook model will share almost the same design profile as the 2015 MacBook Air, which last year got a minor processor upgrade, says Bloomberg. However, what will be new is that the laptop will have thinner bezels around the screen. The firm could also launch an upgraded Apple Mac Mini.
