Asian Games: CAS satisfied Asian Games golfers aren't professional

JAKARTA (Reuters) - The Court of Arbitration for Sport on Wednesday rejected applications from several national golf associations that some players entered into competition at the Asian Games in Jakarta were professional and therefore could not compete.

CAS received complaints from several countries, including hosts Indonesia, that Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Macau and Uzbekistan had entered professional golfers into the amateur competition.

CAS found that none of the athletes entered were professionals.

The case marks the first time CAS have ruled on a matter related to this year’s Asian Games.
