Strong political will proves successful in keeping dengue at bay in Rajasthan

Against a total of 1,937 dengue cases in Rajasthan from January till date, Kota has reported 152, while Jaipur has reported 802 cases.

Kota chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr Ramkant Lavaniya said, “Our success for keeping dengue cases at a lower number has been because of strong political will.”

He said a meeting of ward councillors, political workers and others was held under the chairmanship of MLAs and their motivation inspired people to work with dedication.

Members of Parliament also took keen interest in this campaign. He added that even NGOs are involved in creating awareness among people about dengue and other seasonal diseases and people are following it.

Apart from this, all departments are dedicatedly working in cooperation and in coordination, he added.

Dr Lavaniya said the district administration is involved and weekly monitoring is being done. Even youth are taking part actively and are working towards making Kota dengue free .

Although efforts were being made to replicate Kota model in Jaipur, it is yet to bear fruits. The inter-department coordination seems to lack in Jaipur.

Additional director (rural health) Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur said, “Help of other departments are being taken and strict monitoring is being done.”
