Continuing traffic woes in MP Nagar raises concern

The police officials in the State capital, right from the traffic police to the DIG, are not concerned with the problems of the common people who are forced to remain in traffic jam for hours in MP Nagar and nearby areas.

The officials are more concerned towards minting money by imposing fines to the four-wheeler and two-wheeler owners accusing them of violating traffic rules. However, they are not concerned about the expenses incurred on the diesel and petrol consumed on traffic jams.

The situation of traffic jam is being witnessed in the same MP Nagar and adjoining areas for past couple of years. The main reasons of the jams are considered as rains and the traffic diversions. However, the ‘Learned’ cops posted in the State capital have not been able to come out with the solution of this problem.

Particularly on Tuesday, the officials remained busy in dealing with the VIP movement at Lal Parade ground, where a programme to pay tributes to former prime minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was organised. Nsobody was concerned with the problems being faced by the common people. Additional SP Traffic Arvind Dubey told ‘The Pioneer’ that he was busy in VIP movement and can not talk. SP South Rahul Kumar Lodha instead of commenting on the situation, said that the reporter should talk to traffic officials. After heavy rainfall it was heavy traffic which disrupted normal life for the commuters on Tuesday.

Huge bee lines of vehicles were witnessed at several parts of the state capital and which turned worst in the evening make the lives of commuters miserable. The heavy rainfall exposed the road repair patches recently made to fill pot holes and made the traffic to move slowly at several places in the State capital.

The traffic signals stopped functioning at few squares making the traffic personnel to manage traffic flow manually but which helped little as commuters faced problems in making through the heavy traffic jams and kept stranded for hours. Subhash Nagar railway crossing area, Rachna Nagar under bridge, Chetak Bridge square, Jyoti talkies square, Board office square, Hotel residency road, BDA office square, Axis Bank road and DB Mall square where the regions in and around MP Nagar area which witnessed heavy traffic jams and vehicles were moving at dead speed.

Along with the main roads service roads were also filled with vehicles restricting the movement of vehicles.

Traffic police officers said that due to tribute paying ceremony at Lal Parade Ground during the day traffic diversions were made and which created traffic congestions and later augmented during the peak hours.
