Bengaluru, A rescue team that was in search of missing persons in the floods and landslides ravaged Kodagu district have on Wednesday recovered three bodies, including two from Yemetalu and one at Hebbettagere in Madikeri taluk.
While two bodies were identified as that of Mother Chandravathi and her son Umesh, the other body is yet to be identified.
Mother, a labour and her son an autodriver, were sleeping in their house at Mokaddalu on the fateful day when they were washed away along with their two storey house in flash floods due to very heavy rain that lashed the District since August 13. Their bodies caught under the debris of the house was recovered about two km away from the original place . The recent spate of torrential rains had claimied 12 lives so far.
The mother and son were reported missing for the last three days and the teams were in search for them. Today the army team walked for about half a kilometre in slushy fields and while clearing the mud they recovered the bodies. Thanks to a respite in rains rescue operations have been intensified.
Another team has recovered body of an aged woman from debris at Hebbattagere. The NDRF team came across the body while clearing the mud fallen on the road and the body is yet to be identified.
