Motilal Vora steps down as Cong national treasurer

Veteran Congress leader from Chhattisgarh and former Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh, Motilal Vora on Tuesday stepped down from the post of National Treasurer of the party.

Vora also stepped down as member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC)

The veteran leader has now been assigned the job of a newly created post AICC General Secretary (Administration).

AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot released an order on Tuesday in which the AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi made Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel the new National Treasurer of the AICC in place of Vora.

Patel had earlier too served as an AICC Treasurer from 1996 to 2000.While on the other hand, former Loksabha Speaker Meira Kumar was made a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of the party replacing the veteran leader from Chhattisgarh.

 “The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Motilal Vora as Treasurer of the party,” Gehlot said in the statement.
