L. Ramkumar, former Managing Director, Tube Investments of India, Chairman, Shanthi Gears, and President, Madras Management Association, was chosen as the ‘business leader of the year’ for the academic year 2018 by the Loyola Alumni Association. Ramkumar is an alumni of Loyola College, having done his pre-university and B.Com from the college, passing out in 1976. He went on to do his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, 1978 batch.

Ramkumar was the CFO of TI of India during 1991-1994 and was a key member of the team that raised $ 50 million in GDR in May 1994. He was the President of TI Cycles from 1994 to 2001, responsible for the domestic and international business. He was the MD of TI of India from 2008 to 2017. Ramkumar also had a four year stint in Fenner as President and Director for four years and in Ashok Leyland for six years. He worked in industry for over 30 years.

Ramkumar started his career in Murphy India after IIM-A.
