Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced four-laning of the road connecting two premier religious sites of the State, Deoghar and Basukinath. The expansion would be completed before sacred month of Shravan in 2019.

The CM made this announcement while interacting with kanwarias through video conferencing who were at Basukinath on Tuesday to offer prayers. He asked about experiences of the devotees and also told them to extend suggestion. At the same time the CM directed district officials to work on that direction.

The CM said that the Government would develop both the places as international cultural spots. “The Government is working with full commitment in the direction of making Basukinath and Deoghar as places of international level tourism. Special arrangement for transport would be made to remove obstacles coming in the way of the devotees. We face traffic jam due to lakhs of devotees thronging during the month of Shrawan which would be improved soon. Also special attention would be paid to provide drinking water to the devotees,” said the CM during the conversation.

Kanwarias coming from Aurangabad, Guwahati and several places of Jharkhand talked with the CM live and shared their experiences lauding the facilities and arrangements put in place by the administration. They praised medical aid, building of tent city for their stay, food, toilet, transport, communication and other arrangements done for the devotees which, they said, have improved in comparison of previous years.

The CM on the occasion also congratulated district administrations of Deoghar and Dumka along with social and religious organisations for working in coordinated manner and providing good quality services to the lakhs of kanwarias coming to the towns. He also praised devotion of the sanitation and medical staffs deputed for the shrawani mela. His Principal Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
