Television actor Shaleen Bhanot could be one of the 21 contestants in the upcoming season of Bigg Boss. According to a report in Pinkvilla, Bhanot will join the 12th season of the hit reality show as a celebrity contestant.

A source told the entertainment website, “Shaleen has been approached to do Bigg Boss 12. He will sign the contract next weekend.” His name is the latest to be added to the ever-growing list of possible contestants on the show.

Shaleen is known for television soap operas and period dramas such as Sajda Tere Pyar Mein and Suryaputra Karan. He is also the ex-husband of TV actor Dalljiet Kaur. The couple went through a messy divorce in 2016 after she accused him of domestic violence.

Shaleen and Dalljiet won the dance reality show in Nach Baliye in 2008 and also have a son together named, Jaydon. However, their relationship turned sour a few years later to what Dalljiet called the ‘most difficult phase of her life’ in an interview in 2016. Dalljiet had accused Shaleen of trying to strangle her and harassing her for dowry; claims that were refuted by her ex-husband.

Shaleen said he was affected severely by the divorce and the allegations against him, in an interview to HT in 2016. “After the divorce happened, I was really scared and didn’t step out of the house for first 17 days. And the first time I went out, I had gone to the gym because I wanted to work out and feel fresh and I had all eyes on me, as people form perceptions,” he had said.

The 12th season of Bigg Boss will again be hosted by Salman Khan. According to the two promos released so far, the theme for the new season will be ‘weird pairs’ or ‘vichitra jodis’. According to a DNA report, there will be 21 contestants in Bigg Boss 12 with 12 making real ‘jodis’. The pairs will be of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, siblings, husband-wife, etc. Even here, the ‘jodis’ will be equally divided among celebs and commoners.

The show premieres on September 16.
