As the Ganesh festival is around the corner, the city police on Tuesday announced 11 places where the citizens would be allowed to perform immersion of Ganesh idols this year.
The places include the jetty near Coastal Battery, Slip way jetty, Peda Waltair Jalaripeta, Rushikonda, Sagar Nagar, Jodugulapalem, Appikonda Ravala Cheruvu, Mutyalammapalem (Parawada), Bheemili beach, Pindagadi water tank and Gosthani.
During a review meet with the officials of GVMC, district administration, fire safety and others, over the arrangements for the Ganesh festival for the year, city Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha said that associations which were interested to erect Ganesh pandals should take prior permission for it by registering themselves by furnishing details of pandals at the offices of local ACPs.

He also said that people can also register online at www.vizagcitypolice.com the police website for permissions. He said the action would be taken on the associations for any violation of norms as per the AP Pollution Control Board Act.
Mr. Laddha also made it clear that no idol immersion would be allowed in the stretch between Park Hotel Junction and Coastal Battery. He also warned the pandal organisers not to organise obscene dance performances or use high decibel music systems during the celebrations.
