IAF engages two Mi-17 choppers for Kodagu relief

IAF has pressed  two Mi-17 helicopters of Training Command, Bengaluru for  flood relief operations in Kodagu region operating from Kushalnagar, Periapatna and Harangi.  According to a press release by IAF helicopters undertook aerial recce and rescue missions in flood affected areas of Monnangeri and Jodupala to identify the modalities of ground rescue in close coordination with district officials. Close liaison is also being maintained with Karnataka NDRF team for airlift of essential relief supplies to affected areas. “Airlift of relief supplies and emergency medical teams is being undertaken from Bengaluru to flood affected areas of Kerala. A total of seven transport aircraft have been pressed into service. 20500 Kg of relief load, 207 personnel, 40 doctors and specialists has been airlifted till 20 Aug 18 with additional 9000 kg of relief supplies being transported to flood affected areas on 21 Aug 18.
