Medicines to be distributed through taluk hospitals

The Health Department will intensify its field activities in the disaster-hit zones in the district to ward off contagious diseases.

A meeting of health department officials chaired by District Medical Officer V. Jayasree on Tuesday decided to conduct more medical camps and to supervise the super chlorination activities in houses.

The people who return to their homes after the floods will need more medicines. The medicines collected at the collection points at the Government General Hospital at Kozhikode Beach, Taluk hospital at Vadakara and Kerala Medical Services Corporation Ltd (KMSCL) will be distributed through taluk hospitals.

As there is a high probability of more snake bites among those returning to their houses, 50 doses of anti-snake venom will be stored at the taluk hospitals all the time.

The Government Medical College, Kozhikode, will provide free treatment to flood survivors, even if they did not have any documents to support their claim.

Meanwhile, a massive cleaning drive in the disaster-hit zones will be carried out across the district on Thursday. The health workers from Kozhikode Corporation have visited the sites and have prepared an action plan on where and how to clean the houses. The cleaning will be carried out by squads led by at least one health worker.
