In a joint statement, both governments have expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s five-day visit to China, which came to an end today.
The statement said, “The leaders of both nations recalled the history of friendly exchanges, charted the course for future development and had an in-depth exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. China and Malaysia are optimistic about the prospect of their bilateral relations.”
“Both sides welcomed the investments in each other’s country, encouraged collaboration and technology transfer in high-value investment segments such as ICT, data analytics, design and development, Internet of things, cloud computing and artificial intelligence,” the statement added.
The two countries would also aim to promote various sectors, including small and medium enterprises, trade, tourism, agriculture, livestock and fishery, among others.
Dr. Mahathir expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality provided to him in China, and invited Premier Li Keqiang to visit Malaysia. Li accepted the invitation.
