Gurugram police arrest two men from MP with countrymade gun, live cartridges

The accused have been identified as Kishor Rathod and Rakesh Kumar, both hailing from Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh. Police said the accused were working as autorickshaw drivers.

The police arrested two men, both natives of Madhya Pradesh, on Monday night and recovered a countrymade gun and two live cartridges from their possession.

One accomplice of the accused managed to escape, police said.

The investigating officer, Rakesh, said the accused were coming from Indira colony side in Sector 52 on a scooter when they were intercepted by the police at a barricade.

“One of the accused jumped from the scooter and managed to escape, while the other two were arrested. During inspection, one countrymade gun and two live cartridges were recovered from them,” Rakesh, who goes by his first name, said.

Police said that the accused confessed to having stolen the scooter they were riding from Delhi on August 6.

“Rathod had rented a place in Rohini, Delhi while Kumar was staying in Indira Colony, Gurugram. We are trying to trace the third accused, who escaped,” the investigating officer said.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 379 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of Indian Penal Code and section 25/54/59 of The Arms Act at sector 40 police station, police said
