Trader shot dead, his brother critical

A trader was shot dead in Libberhedi village following heated argument with another person on Sunday night. His brother also sustained bullet injuries and was later referred to a higher medical centre as his condition worsened. The accused has been sent into police custody, police said, adding that tension has been running high in the village following the incident.

It is learnt from police that Omveer and Sukram Pal, two brothers, had a welding shop at Libberhedi village in Manglaur area under Roorkee block. They had taken the shop on rent which is situated near a warehouse owned by one Nawab who runs a dhaba (restaurant).

On Sunday night, as the two brothers were working in their shop they went to the warehouse to collect an iron pipe which they needed for some purpose. As the warehouse was shuttered Nawab did not let them open it. Heated altercation ensued and according to police, Nawab fired two shots from his revolver. Sukrampal  fell down, bleeding and he was rushed to the civil hospital where he succumbed. Omveer is said to be critical.

Speaking to The Pioneer, SP rural Manikant Mishra said, “Firing resulted from an altercation. Nawab has been taken into custody. The probe is on.
