In a sensational incident, a Dalit was lynched by a violent mob in Bhagwantpura village under Belsanda police station of Pilibhit on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police of Pilibhit, Balendu Bhushan Singh, told media persons on Monday that an FIR was registered against seven people and orders were issued for their arrest.

As per a report, Shiv Kumar wanted to take his niece from Bhagwantpura hamlet of Belsanda to his home on Sunday but this was objected to by her. Merely on this pretext, some locals, including Ram Naresh, Vijay Pal, Subhash and others, battered Shiv Kumar with sticks and rods, critically injuring him.

Surprisingly, the villagers assaulted the victim despite the girl pleading with them to leave his uncle.

Later, the critically injured Kumar was taken to the district hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police claimed that one of the accused was trying to lure the girl but her uncle opposed the him. Hence, to remove Kumar from the scene, the accused and his aides planned the attack and lynched Kumar.

A case was registered and a hunt was launched to nab the accused.

Meanwhile in Faizabad, a man immolated himself after being harassed by his in-laws and the local police.

As per report, Pawan Kumar Singh (38) of Sihaita Lohani area of Raunahi had married Ruby of the same area. Four years back, Ruby ended her life by setting herself afire. Before succumbing, she told the magistrate in her dying declaration that her husband and in-laws were innocent and that she took the extreme step on her own. However, her parents registered a murder case against Pawan and his family members.

Despite knowing about the dying declaration, the local police sent Pawan and his family members to jail. Not only this, they kept on harassing them even after they were discharged from jail.

Fed up with the constant harassment by his in-laws and police, Pawan doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze on Sunday. When the locals rushed to his rescue, he informed them of having written a suicide note. The locals handed over the note to the police and shifted him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
