Road users in Adilabad are a shade less tense while driving in town thanks to the initiative of the police in evicting stray cattle from the roads. The operation to move away the cattle began three days ago and so far about 500 of the animals have been driven into the gram panchayat-maintained pens for stray animals in Chanda (T) and Mavala villages on either side of the town. As the owners exhibit a marked apathy towards tending the animals including bullocks, cows and buffaloes, the cattle flock to the roads. They actually come in search of a warm place to sit as most of the open spaces get wet following rainfall.
