It’s Official, The Moon Has Ice At Both Of Its Poles

Well, we just confirmed that there is ice on both of the moon’s poles.????Using Data from NASA’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper or M3, researchers were able to definitively say that there is water ice on the moon’s surface.

????The ice is more concentrated at lunar carters at the South Pole, while the North Pole’s ice is more widely, albeit sparsely spread.????The data -- published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences -- was able to show the reflective properties of the ice as well as the distinct ways its molecules absorb infrared light.

????And because of the slight tilt of the moon, the sun's light never reaches the creators so the ice can stay frozen.????Researchers hope that the sign of ice on the surface could make for a possible water resource for future missions to the moon.

????And learning more about the ice and how it got their will go a long way to help us return to our closest neighbor.
