There was brief commotion at the district collectorate in Coimbatore on Monday after a 40-year-old man, who painted his body in the Tricolour, staged an agitation outside it demanding patta for his land.

Coimbatore:
Saravana Kumar, a daily wager from Sulur, had come to the Collector office during the grievance day meeting around noon. He was also holding the national flag.
The Race Course police, who stood guard, prevented him from entering the office. When questioned by the cops, Kumar alleged that the district administration failed to issue patta to the three cents of land owned by him despite submitting several petitions. The police took him to the Race Course police station, but later let him off after issuing a warning.
A few months ago, Kumar attempted suicide at the collectorate premises over the same issue. He also created a flutter by visiting the VOC park grounds, while the Independence Day celebrations were underway, to submit a petition to the Collector.
