At least five students, including two girls, were injured in a violent clash between two groups in the BJB College campus here on Monday.

The injured were rushed to the Capital Hospital and their conditions were stated to be stable.

Sources said the two groups, though owing allegiance to a political party, attacked each other with lethal weapons.

The clash erupted near the main gate of the college at around 10 am after one group of students passed comments at the other over the upcoming students’ union elections.

As the students from both the groups were admitted in the same hospital, security was beefed up at the hospital premises. Police force was deployed in the college campus.

With students’ union elections round the corner, pre-poll violence has triggered tension in the college campus.
