J. Jill Inc. JILL, -7.72% shares plummeted more than 11% in Tuesday premarket trading after the women's apparel company reported second-quarter earnings and sales fell. Net income totaled $10.5 million, or 23 cents per share, down from $12.0 million, or 28 cents per share, the prior year. Adjusted EPS was 24 cents. Revenue totaled $179.7 million, down from $181.4 million last year. Same-store sales increased 2.2%. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of 23 cents, sales of $179 million, and same-store sales growth of 1.1%. For the third quarter J. Jill expects same-store sales to decline 2% to 4% and sales are expected to increase 2% to 4%. Net EPS is expected to be in the range of 9 cents to 11 cents. The FactSet consensus is for same-store sales growth of 4% and adjusted EPS of 15 cents. J. Jill shares are down more than 26% for the past year while the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.24% is up 17.7% for the period.
