4125 candidates allotted seats in DOST special drive

HYDERABAD: As many as 4125 candidates are allotted seats in the special drive phase of Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST).

According to the release issued on Monday, of the said candidates, 2578 candidates confirmed their admissions at the respective colleges. In the special drive, the maximum number of allotments, 1736, went to colleges affiliated to Osmania University, followed by Kakatiya University with 1132 and Palamuru University with 407.

When it comes to Satavahana University a total of 330 seats were allotted to colleges under its purview and 275 to Telugu University and 245 to Mahatma Gandhi University.

In total, while there are 4, 03, 002 seats available in the state in 104 colleges, 2,02, 662 candidates have confirmed their admissions till now. 53 colleges recorded zero admissions.

Every year about half of the degree seats remain vacant in the state as only 4.5 lakh candidates pass out of intermediate colleges. Of these students, many opt for engineering, medical and other courses.
