Haryana Police arrests 5 for possessing 38.6gm drugs

Haryana Police has arrested five persons for allegedly possessing 38.6 gram heroin from two different locations in distict Sirsa.

The accused have been identified as Gagandeep Singh, Hardeep Singh, Raghubir Singh, Sevendra and Sunil Kumar, all residents of district Sirsa, said a spokesman of Police Department.

While Gagandeep Singh, Hardeep Singh, Raghubir Singh and Sevendra were apprehended with 24 gram heroin from Kalanwali area, crime investigation agency had arrested fifth accused Sunil Kumar with 14.6 gram heroin from village Kagdana in the district, he said.

The spokesman said that after enquiring about the name of supplier, a case under NDPS Act has been registered against the five accused, besides two others.

All accused would be taken on remand by producing them in the court. Stern action would be taken after identifying the other persons involved in the racket of heroin smuggling and efforts were being made to nab them, he added.       

Notably, a crackdown was launched against smuggling of narcotics in the district, especially in the areas bordering Rajasthan and Punjab.
