Agencies, Bhopal, The Election Commission of India today said that a complaint by the principal-opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh vis-à-vis the deletion of the name of a former state minister from electoral list in Tikamgarh is being investigated.
“Besides, another complaint by the Congress concerning 11,000 duplicate voters in Narela constituency is being investigated,” said Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer VL Kanta Rao while replying to media queries here.
Mentioning that various poll-related issues were reviewed during separate meetings with all the district collectors, he said that the ECI’s full commission would hold a meeting with all the district collectors in the state capital shortly.
“Presently, the process of preparation for electoral list is underway. On the basis of constant updating done in the past six months, a draft was published on July 31.
The deadline for raising objections that had been fixed on August 21 has been extended to August 31. The final electoral list would be published on September 27,” said Mr Rao.
“Those who already have a voter ID could find their name on the electoral list through a SMS. For those who do not have voter ID and have given their name before July 31, they could check their name on the National Voters’ Services Portal (www.nvsp.in). Besides, this information is available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer,” he said.
In addition to the constitution of media cell, the ECI has decided to make full use of social media platforms. A Twitter account and a Youtube channel in the name of ‘CEOMP Election 2018’ and a Facebook account in the name of ‘Ceomp Sveep’ has been opened to provide information concerning electoral process.
Besides, the first level checking (FLC) work for ballot unit has been completed by 98.2 per cent. Likewise, 99 per cent FLC for control unit and 75.27 per cent for voter verified paper trail (VVPAT) has been completed.
“FLC of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and VVPAT has been complete for 31 districts – out of 51 districts. The process for the rest 20 districts would be complete within a week,” said Mr Rao. He added that the honorarium for block level officers have been fixed at Rs 12,000 per year.
