NEW DELHI: Equity benchmark indices
Sensex and
Nifty ended flat on Tuesday after trading rangebound through the session.
30-share BSE index closed at 38,285.75, up a nominal 7 points. The index hit a new all-time high of 38,402.96 in intra-day trading. The broader 50-share NSE index finished at 11,570.90, gaining 19.15 points.
The bourses traded flat through the day in absence of any major trigger, but ensured their hold at all-time high levels.
Among sectors, the IT and pharma sub-indices gained in the tune of a per cent each while the metal, FMCG and bank ones finished in the red.
Coal India,
Axis Bank, NTPC,
Sun Pharma and
Wipro were the major gainers, rallying more than a per cent each during the day.
