A resident doctor at the civic-run Cooper Hospital in Mumbai was assaulted by relatives of a 35-year-old patient who died soon after being brought into to the hospital.

The incident took place at around 11.30 pm on Sunday.

The patient was brought in with an altered sensorium and he succumbed even before the doctors could diagnose his condition.

However, this angered the relatives who beat up the doctor, a second year resident from Nair Hospital who was posted on duty at Cooper.
