CLARIFICATION

Sir — There were a couple of inadvertent editing errors in Maj Gen Ashok K Mehta’s piece ‘Rafale cocktail continues to fox us’ published in these columns on 15 August. The relevant sentences should have read as follows:

• The main reasons for alleged irregularities are the neglect of the Defence Ministry — despite the fear of financial impropriety — by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who monitors every other department of the Government scrupulously.
   
• Then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was brought in at the 11th hour. Even Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha was merely consulted. Due process followed and was not preceded by the declaration of intent.
