'They were lovely people': Father, son killed in Bellarine house fire
A elderly father and his adult son have died in a horrific house fire that gutted their home on the Bellarine Peninsula.
The blaze engulfed the home on Powell Street West in Ocean Grove, about 4am on Monday.
Police believe the 90-year-old father and his 57-year-old son were trapped inside and died at the scene.
A neighbour from across the road, who didn't want her name published, said the pair were inseparable and were often seen walking together down the street.
"I'm in shock," she said. "They were lovely people, down-to-earth, genuine people."
The neighbour said she woke to glass shattering about 4am.
"I looked out the window and the house was engulfed [with fire]," she said. "I thought it was a dream. I wish it was."
Their bodies are yet to be formal identified.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
