The large-hearted eight-year-old schoolgirl from Villupuram, who broke open her piggy banks to contribute to the flood relief in Kerala, was rewarded on Monday for her generous gesture with a brand new bicycle.
Hero Cycles gifted a bicycle to S. Anupriya, a Class II student, who donated her piggy bank savings of the last four years.
Daughter of K.C. Shanmuganathan and Lalitha of K.K. Road in Villupuram, Anupriya had been saving her pocket money to buy a bicycle.
On Sunday, a Twitter post about the child’s gesture caught the attention of Hero Cycles which promptly retweeted the post, appreciating Anupriya’s gesture.
“Anupriya, “pranam to you. You are a noble soul and wish you spread the good around. Hero is too pleased to give you one bike every year of your life. Pl share your contact on my account. Love you and best wishes. Prayers for Kerala,” Pankaj M. Munjal, chairman and managing director of Hero Cycles, said in a tweet.
Mr. Shanmuganathan said Manoj Kumar, Sales Manager of Hero Cycles had contacted them over the phone and lauded the little girl’s gesture. The couple along with the child went to a cycle store in Villupuram where Anupriya selected a blue Hero Sprint 20 T bicycle.
